Just try to "Buy It Now"
Being the friend of libraries that I am, I thought I would try to purchase a book through the Buy It Now program offered through OCLC's Open WorldCat program. If you find a book using Open WorldCat, the record for that book provides a link to "Buy It Now." Not only can you get a good price on the book, but you are also helping libraries, as explained by the service:
Libraries available for your direct support are member institutions of OCLC Online Computer Library Center, Inc. Members of this global library cooperative contribute information to the WorldCat database that drives the Find in a Library search site.Once I had selected a library, I was then asked to create a new account. No matter how many times I tried to do this in different browsers with different e-mail addresses, I couldn't complete the process. If anyone has successfully set up an account and purchased a book, let me know how you did it. You can try to set up an account from this page or from the results of a Open World Cat search (you can do it from this page on the OCLC site) and then search for books once you logged in.
As you enter the Buy It Now store, you'll be asked to select an eligible library near you. You may also choose to support libraries collectively, or to skip this step entirely. Choose a specific library, and a percentage of your final purchase is credited toward that library's OCLC service charges. If you do not choose a library, the amount is applied to a general OCLC fund that supports the Find in a Library search site. No matter how you choose, your gift helps libraries serve their communities.
